What Does the Air Filter Do?

During operation, the engine draws a large volume of air through the intake system. Dust and other contaminants in unfiltered air can increase wear inside the engine. The air filter is positioned within the intake system to help remove these particles before the air enters the engine.

Replacing a dirty or heavily restricted air filter can help maintain proper airflow and support consistent engine performance.

Installation

Installation generally involves opening the motorcycle's airbox, removing the existing filter element and fitting the replacement filter in the same position.

1. Switch off the motorcycle and allow the engine to cool.
2. Access the airbox according to your motorcycle's service procedure.
3. Remove the existing air filter.
4. Clean loose dust and debris from the airbox without allowing contamination into the intake.
5. Install the new filter in the correct orientation.
6. Make sure the filter is seated correctly before closing the airbox.

Important: Do not operate the motorcycle without an air filter installed. Make sure the filter is seated correctly and the airbox is fully closed before starting the engine.
