The 125Z2 is Zontes' entry naked, sharing a great many components with the 125U but wearing a larger, more conventional headlight and a slightly more classical shape. The engine is the familiar liquid-cooled four-valve 125 single, pushed right to the legal ceiling at 14.7 hp at 10,000 rpm and 13 Nm at 7,000 rpm - a figure Zontes markets as a class record for flexibility. Equipment is unusually thorough for the price point: full LED lighting, an LCD dash, tyre pressure monitoring, adjustable levers, backlit switchgear and twin USB sockets.
Two things already on the bike
Before buying, know these. Crash bobbins are fitted as standard, so the frame slider purchase most naked owners make on day one is already covered. And the rear rack converts into passenger grab handles - a genuinely clever piece of design that means you do not need a separate rack for a tail bag, but also means a top case plate has to work with that convertible mechanism rather than replace it. Read the fitment notes carefully on luggage.
What 125Z2 owners buy
Wind protection first: at 14.7 hp the bike will sit at motorway speeds, and a naked handlebar with no screen makes that hard work, so flyscreens and small sport screens lead the collection. Then the practical commuter set - phone mounts, tail bags, disc locks, covers and rain gear. Then personalisation, which on a first bike is a big category: bar-end mirrors, LED indicators, tank pads, grips, coloured levers and decal kits. Consumables round it out: filters, plugs, chain and sprocket kits, brake pads.
Fitment
Covers the ZT125-Z2 and the "Z2-125" spelling used in Spain. Because the 125Z2 shares so much with the 125U, and because the whole Zontes 125 range is built on closely related architecture, control and engine-side parts frequently interchange with the 125U, 125U1 and 125G1. Bodywork and headlight-related parts are Z2-specific.
